Along with writing, I love to read. My mother would read to me every single day as a child. I had a large white suitcase filled with books and encyclopedias for me to dabble in to. It’s something about a good book that gets me lost and excited to turn the next page.
If you own an iPad or any apple product, there are free books that you can download. For this post I have three free books that you can download this Black History Month.
1. Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass

2. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs

3. The Narrative of Sojourner Truth

I own the physical copy of the Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass. My dad suggested this book to me a few years ago and it will always be a book that I recommend to everyone. Reading the personal accounts of these slaves really gives one insight in to the everyday struggle of living as a slave.
